The Bunkbed

In honor of all of the kids getting ready to spend their summer at sleep-away camp, I thought I would post about the classic bunk bed. I personally love bunk beds and always wanted one as a child. (I guess thats why when my first son was ready to move into a bed, I bought him a bunk bed). However, bunk beds have have come a long way since I was a kid. Not only are they super practical, but they can be one of the coolest pieces of furniture in the home.

My favorite, if necessary to sleep a lot of children, is the double bunk - meaning two bunk beds either facing each other on one long wall, or perpendicular to one another.

Here are some of my faves...

Dining room - To Have or Not to Have?

Sorry guys - I know I have been very lax with the blog lately - been super busy but I do miss writing so I am back!

So it seems there is a new trend toward not having a formal dining room and maybe using the space for alternative purposes. Some people utilize the space as a play room, whether for the kids or even adults by housing a pool table. Others choose to use it as an office or even close it off to make an extra bedroom.

Obviously there are many factors to consider when deciding how to get the best use out of a space initially intended to be your dining room. Think about whether you entertain a lot and if you need a place in your home to serve a large amount of diners whether for holidays or just for fun. If not, brainstorm and decide what it is you are missing from your home and how you can get the most out of the space.

On another note, I personally love the idea of having a dining room. It doesn't have to be super fancy and formal but a well designed room designated for gathering family and friends to enjoy a great meal (I guess that means I am not cooking!) I still have not furnished mine yet, but hoping to do so soon. Here are some images to spark some inspiration.
