For those of you who do not know, this period is generally considered the time between the 1930's through the mid 1960's and is known for its affinity for clean, simple lines, neutral colors, and minimalist atrributes. It is actually the design concept I adhere to most, especially when it comes to uncluttered spaces (the only way I could sleep at night with three kids!).
Many well known designers of this time include the uber famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright as well as furniture designers, Harry Bertoia, Charles and Ray Eames, Arne Jacobsen, George Nelson, Euro Saarinen and Richard Schultz.
In 1961 Playboy magazine published a now classic image of six mid-century design masters all sitting in chairs that they created. As far as mid-century design enthusiasts are concerned, this is a legendary photograph.

Here are some images of rooms that incorporate mid century design pieces...

I love the design of this banquet with the walnut millwork and the white leather upholstery. The fact that is is situated right under the huge window only adds to the allure.
